Shipping rates not showing
Updated · SMART Shipping Rates (E-TRADE PARTNER)
If a SMART calculated shipping rate is not showing, check Shopify Carrier Service first, then confirm the checkout cart, address, zone, product, weight, quantity, and price conditions all match. Delivery customizations do not create new rates, so they will not make a missing calculated rate appear.
4.9 · SMART Shipping Rates does this with zones, calculated rates, and delivery customizations.

A missing rate usually means Shopify did not receive an eligible calculated rate for that checkout. Work through the checks in order so you do not spend time changing product rules when the store is missing Carrier Service.
Fast checklist
- Confirm the rule is a Shipping rates or Combined rates rule, not only a delivery customization.
- Confirm Shopify Carrier Service is available. Zone creation is disabled without it.
- Check whether the store is on a Shopify plan that can use Carrier Service. The app banner states that Basic plan stores cannot enable Carrier Service.
- Test with an address inside the configured country, city, postal code, wildcard, or range.
- Check cart total, cart weight, cart quantity, product total, product weight, and product quantity conditions.
- Check whether product tags, shipping tags, or combined-rate tags are spelled consistently.
- Review Settings for multiple rates behavior and rounding.
Carrier Service symptoms
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Zone creation is disabled | Carrier Service is not available | Open Shipping rates and review the Carrier Service banner |
| No calculated SMART rate appears | Shopify cannot receive the app rate or the rule does not match | Check Carrier Service, then rule conditions |
| Delivery customization works but new rate does not | Different module requirements | Delivery customizations do not need Carrier Service, calculated rates do |
| Combined rate does not appear | Tagged calculated rates are missing or not matching | Check shipping tags and included rates |
Condition mismatch checks
- Use a real checkout address that exactly matches the intended country and city.
- For postal code rules, test one value inside the range and one outside it.
- Check wildcard * and range ... patterns carefully.
- Make sure cart and product weights use the expected unit from Settings.
- Confirm the cart includes the products or quantities the rule expects.
When the issue is not a missing rate
If Shopify already shows the correct rate but the method name, order, or visibility is wrong, use Delivery customizations. If several SMART rates show separately and should become one, use Combined rates.
No built-in checkout simulator
SMART does not include an in-app checkout simulator. Troubleshoot by using real checkout carts and addresses, then compare them against your configured rule conditions.

Frequently asked questions
›Why is my SMART rate not appearing?
The most common causes are missing Carrier Service for calculated rates or a checkout cart and address that do not match the rule conditions.
›Why is zone creation disabled?
Zone creation is disabled when Shopify Carrier Service is not available.
›Can delivery customizations create a missing rate?
No. Delivery customizations control existing checkout methods. Use Shipping rates when SMART must create a calculated rate.
›How should I test a missing rate?
Use real checkout with a cart, products, weights, quantities, and address that should match the rule. Also test a non-matching cart to confirm the rule boundary.
