Delivery customizations
Updated · SMART Shipping Rates (E-TRADE PARTNER)
Delivery customizations control existing Shopify checkout methods. In SMART Shipping Rates & Rules, they can hide, show, move, reorder, rename, and sort methods without Shopify Carrier Service, so they work on any Shopify plan.
4.9 · SMART Shipping Rates does this with zones, calculated rates, and delivery customizations.

Use delivery customizations when the checkout method already exists and the problem is how it appears. If you need SMART to create a new shipping price, use Shipping rates instead.

Conditions you can use
Delivery customization rules use condition sets. The main groups are Cart, Customer, Location, Address & Contact, and Advanced Product Properties. This lets you target common cases such as customer tags, destination, cart value, product details, and address fields.
- Hide express-style methods when a fragile product is in the cart.
- Show only local pickup for a specific customer or destination group.
- Move the cheapest method to the top for consumer orders.
- Rename a method for B2B customers when the internal method name is not customer-friendly.
Shopify limit
Shopify allows a maximum of 25 active delivery customizations. If you reach that limit, consolidate overlapping rules before adding more.
Rename limitation
SMART can rename many existing methods, but it cannot rename dynamic carrier rates that include the carrier name. If a dynamic checkout method keeps its original carrier-branded name, this Shopify behavior is the likely reason.
How to set up a rule
- Open Delivery customizations.
- Create a customization and choose the action.
- Select the existing checkout method or method type the rule should affect.
- Add condition sets for cart, customer, location, address, contact, or product data.
- Save the rule.
- Test in Shopify checkout with a cart and address that should match, then one that should not match.
